Winter semester 2023/24: Magazine "Nuestras Voces"
Immerse yourself in the fascinating new magazine "Our Voices", an outstanding result of the Spanish course "From Vocabulary to Journalism" during the winter semester 2023/2024. Read, enjoy and learn with us!
The magazine project was designed to offer a course for advanced Spanish students. The aim was not only to give them the opportunity to practice and strengthen their written Spanish skills, but also to broaden their understanding of different types of texts in the printed media while studying different socio-cultural aspects of the Hispanic world.
Thus, the idea was born to develop a final project created by the students themselves, following the process of text production from input to the creation of the first draft to peer review and layout design.
The final magazine, entitled "Nuestras Voces", was the result of much effort by the students and their lecturer Ana Gil López, who successfully guided them through the entire creative process. It was with great pride that the presentation of the magazine took place on the first of February at the Language Center, where participants had the opportunity to listen to the students and the teacher enthusiastically presenting the sections of "Nuestras Voces" and explaining the creation and learning process.
After this event, which allowed us to listen to the students present their final product and flip through the pages, we were able to celebrate this great success together. We proudly present the magazine for all to read, enjoy and learn from the voices of the Spanish students at the Language Center in the course "De la palabra a la prensa". We hope that this will be an example to all Spanish students of what they can achieve at the end of their Spanish learning semesters, and that it will provide an opportunity to read, enjoy and learn with them. Perhaps it will also serve as an inspiration for others to join "Nuestras Voces" and achieve their Spanish learning goals.

Sumérgete en la fascinante nueva revista 'Nuestras Voces', producto destacado del curso de español 'De la Palabra a la Prensa' durante el semestre de invierno 2023/2024. ¡Lee, disfruta y aprende con nosotros!
El proyecto de la revista se concibió pensando en un curso dirigido a estudiantes de español que se encuentran en niveles avanzados del idioma. La intención no solo era proporcionarles la oportunidad de practicar y reforzar sus habilidades escritas en español, sino también de ampliar sus conocimientos sobre los diversos tipos de textos presentes en los medios escritos, al mismo tiempo que exploraban diferentes aspectos socioculturales del mundo hispanohablante.
De esta manera, surgió la idea de desarrollar un proyecto final que fuera producido por los propios estudiantes, siguiendo los procesos de producción textual desde la fase inicial, la creación del primer borrador, hasta la revisión grupal y la maquetación.
La revista final, titulada "Nuestras Voces", fue el resultado de un considerable esfuerzo por parte de los estudiantes y su profesora, Ana Gil López, quien los guió con éxito a lo largo de todo el proceso de creación, producción y revisión. Con gran satisfacción, el primero de febrero, en el Sprachenzentrum, se llevó a cabo el lanzamiento de la revista, durante el cual los asistentes tuvimos la oportunidad de escuchar a los estudiantes y a la profesora presentar con entusiasmo las secciones de "Nuestras Voces", explicando el proceso de producción y aprendizaje.
De este evento, al escuchar a los estudiantes presentar su producto final y tener la oportunidad de hojear sus páginas, pudimos celebrar juntos este gran logro. Con orgullo, les presentamos la revista al alcance de todos, para que puedan leerla, disfrutarla y aprender de las voces de los estudiantes de español del Sprachenzentrum que participaron en el curso de escritura "De la palabra a la prensa". Esperamos que sirva como ejemplo para todos los estudiantes, demostrando lo que pueden lograr al final de sus semestres de aprendizaje de español, y que sea una oportunidad para leerla, disfrutarla y aprender con ella. Quizás también pueda inspirar a otros a unirse a "Nuestras Voces" y alcanzar sus metas de aprendizaje del español.

Winter semester 2023/24: Tandem project
Tandem project Uni-Siegen - EAN Bogota, Colombia
During the winter semester 2023/24 we started the tandem project between the Spanish students of the Language Center and the students of Modern Languages, German, at the University EAN in Colombia in the Spanish courses B1.1 and B1.2. By resuming this project for the summer semester 2024, our main objective is to give students the opportunity to put their Spanish skills into practice and improve their oral expression skills as well as their mediation and interaction skills with native speakers.
Over a period of seven weeks, students have the opportunity to connect digitally with their tandem partners, introduce themselves and explore cultural topics of their respective countries, such as gastronomy, cities and traditions. In addition, students at the UniSiegen Language Center also have the opportunity to help their fellow students learn German. The evidence of these meetings was compiled in a special padlet, while the three videos created in the project contributed to 15 percent of the final grade, which is related to the oral production in the course.
This project provides participants with a valuable first experience in communicating in Spanish, allowing them to share their culture and gain insight into the rich Hispanic culture in Latin America. At the same time, Colombian students have the opportunity to interact with native speakers of German, familiarize themselves with their country and gain a deeper understanding of everyday life in Germany.
During the first edition of the project, the involvement of students from both countries has not only helped to achieve the goal of improving oral production in the foreign language, but has also fostered the formation of meaningful connections and friendships.

Proyecto Tándem Uni-Siegen - EAN Bogotá, Colombia
Durante el semestre de invierno 2023/24, en los grupos de español B1.1 y B1.2, dimos inicio al proyecto Tándem entre los estudiantes del Sprachenzentrum, dedicados al español, y los estudiantes de Lenguas Modernas, especializados en alemán, de la Universidad EAN en Colombia. Retomando este proyecto para el semestre de verano 2024, nuestro objetivo principal es brindar a los estudiantes la oportunidad de poner en práctica sus conocimientos de español, así como mejorar su expresión oral, mediación e interacción con hablantes nativos del idioma.
A lo largo de siete semanas, los estudiantes tienen la oportunidad de conectarse digitalmente con sus compañeros Tándem, presentarse y explorar temas culturales propios de sus respectivos países, como la gastronomía, las ciudades y las tradiciones. Además, los estudiantes del Sprachenzentrum de UniSiegen también tienen la posibilidad de apoyar a sus compañeros en el aprendizaje del alemán. Las evidencias de estos encuentros se compilaron en un Padlet específico, mientras que los tres videos resultantes del proyecto contribuyeron al 15 por ciento de la calificación final relacionada con la producción oral del curso.
Este proyecto brinda a los participantes una valiosa primera experiencia en la comunicación en español, permitiéndoles compartir su cultura y abrir una ventana a la riqueza cultural hispana en América Latina. Al mismo tiempo, los estudiantes colombianos tienen la oportunidad de interactuar con hablantes nativos de alemán, promoviendo el conocimiento de su país y adquiriendo una comprensión más profunda de la vida cotidiana en Alemania.
Durante la primera edición del proyecto, el compromiso de los estudiantes de ambos países no solo cumplió con el objetivo de mejorar la producción oral en el idioma extranjero, sino que también fomentó el establecimiento de conexiones y lazos de amistad significativos.
