Inclusion in municipalities: there is room for improvement

A nationwide research and development project by the German Institute for Human Rights and the University of Siegen has investigated the state of inclusion in municipalities. It also shows success factors and hurdles in the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Global visibility as a location for excellent physics, two new professorships and more opportunities for students and doctoral candidates: The "Color meets Flavor" Cluster of Excellence is giving the Siegen physics department and the entire university a boost.

Siegen physics even more "excellent"

In addition to the "Color meets Flavor" Cluster of Excellence, physicists from the University of Siegen will be involved in another Cluster of Excellence from 2026. The "Experimental Quantum Optics" working group led by Prof. Dr. Christof Wunderlich is a cooperation partner in the "ML4Q" cluster for quantum research.

Historic moment for the University of Siegen: Excellence certified

The University of Siegen has been awarded the contract for a Cluster of Excellence in the field of elementary particle physics. The project with partners Bonn, Dortmund and Jülich was successful in the Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments - it will receive a total of around 60 million euros in funding over the next seven years.

The University of Siegen supports its academics in all phases of their research projects - from internal university start-up funding for research ideas, searching for suitable funding bodies and counseling on submitting applications to administrative, financial, and legal support for projects and the transfer of research results.

Strategic Research Planning

Prorectorate and committees

The Prorectorate for Research, Infrastructure and Networking strengthens research at the University of Siegen through strategic impulses, targeted funding, and the expansion of scientific infrastructures — including both local and international networking.
The Senate Commission for Research and Early Career Researchers advises the Rectorate on strategic research developments and internal funding lines.
The DFG liaison officer advises researchers in particular on funding opportunities from the German Research Foundation (DFG) and provides confidential support with questions relating to applications and funding procedures.
