Academic Integrity

The Ethics Council of the University of Siegen supports researchers in the ethical consideration of opportunities and risks and evaluates research projects from the perspective of human dignity as well as the autonomy and self-determination of the participants.

The University of Siegen has implemented an "ombuds system to safeguard good scientific practice" which investigates allegations of scientific misconduct and acts as a mediator in cases of conflict.

The Univeristy of Siegen is committed to a foundation of equal opportunity, participation, and anti-discrimination to promote equity and diversity in science and teaching.

Open access publications enable free and unrestricted access to scientific knowledge worldwide. The University of Siegen has established an Open Access Publication Fund to assist authors with publication costs.

The University of Siegen embraces its responsibility for meticulous research data management and offers an e-Science Service to support its researchers with data management, archiving, and long-term preservation.

All research activities must include a risk-benefit assessment and comply with export control requirements for dual-use goods and technologies. Support is provided by Division 1.3.

The University of Siegen takes data privacy very seriously. We are committed to respecting the privacy of our community and upholding all data privacy regulations. Our Data Privacy Officer is available to provide guidance and support on privacy-related matters.
