Teacher Education Master's Graduation Ceremony
They’ve successfully completed their teacher training! Many students in teacher training programs have graduated from the University of Siegen in recent months. These prospective teachers will now begin the second phase of their teacher training—the teaching internship (Referendariat)—and will be assigned to elementary schools, Hauptschulen, Realschulen, and secondary schools, as well as comprehensive schools, high schools, vocational colleges, and special education schools.
But first, on October 21, 2026, the graduates celebrated their achievements to date at the Master’s graduation ceremony for the teacher education programs in the Gläsersaal of the Siegerlandhalle. The event was hosted by the Center for Teacher Education and Educational Research (ZLB) and was organized and carried out by the Teacher Education Learning Workshop. In addition to welcoming remarks by Prof. Dr. Stefanie Roos, Director of the ZLB, and Dr. Barbara Müller-Naendrup, Prorector for Teacher Training, Further Education and Sustainability, the program for the master’s graduation ceremony featured the keynote address “Social Mobility and Cognitive Biases: It All Depends on You” by Prof. Dr. Ekkehard Köhler. Another highlight was the speech by graduate Elisa Knitsch, who reflected on her time in Siegen. In the closing tribute by Prof. Stefanie Roos and Dr. Nadja Ratzka, Executive Director of the ZLB, the proud graduates were presented with flowers and celebrated on stage by the 450 guests. The event featured musical performances by Luc Ibrom and Lutz Wehnert, who thrilled the audience.
