In the current CHE ranking, the University of Siegen is ranked in the top group in several categories. The Bachelor's degree course in Psychology performed best.

The University of Siegen has once again performed successfully in the current CHE University Ranking and has landed in the top group in several subjects. A total of nine subjects were evaluated in the current ranking. Top marks were awarded in particular for support at the start of studies - here, four of the nine subjects evaluated made it to the top: Psychology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Materials Engineering/Material Science. In the category of completing degrees in a reasonable amount of time, the subjects of Educational Science and, once again, Psychology were ranked in the top group.

The Electrical Engineering degree course was also rated top in terms of the extent to which it is interlinked (dual studies). "It is important to us that our students have the best possible conditions here in Siegen - and that includes support and supervision at every stage of their studies. Especially at the beginning, when everything is new, the university is there with contact persons and offers. I am therefore very pleased with the results of the ranking," says the Rector of the University of Siegen, Prof. Dr. Stefanie Reese.

In numerous other categories of the ranking, the subjects ranked at the University of Siegen landed in the middle group - including five subjects in the area of international orientation and four subjects in the context of support at the beginning of studies. There is room for improvement in some subjects in terms of graduation within a reasonable time, third-party funding per academic and doctorates per professorship.

Students rate subjects positively

The results of the student survey are not presented in ranking groups in the CHE ranking, but in stars - a maximum of five stars can be achieved. For the University of Siegen, there are evaluations for a total of six subjects in the current ranking: Psychology, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering (dual), Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. In the subject of electrical engineering, the average student rating is 3.7 stars. The best ratings were given for library facilities (4.3 stars) and study organization (4.2 stars).

The subject of psychology scored best with an average of 4.2 stars: Students were particularly satisfied with the study organization (4.7 stars), the rooms (4.5 stars) and the general study situation, for which there were also 4.5 stars - a value that no other German university surpassed. Only five other universities in Germany achieved comparably high ratings in these categories.

This makes the Bachelor's degree program in Psychology at Faculty II of the University of Siegen one of the best in Germany. The results underline the high quality of teaching, the dedicated student support and the structured study conditions at Siegen. The course offers a sound scientific education with a high degree of practical relevance. Through continuous further development, the university creates optimal conditions for a successful and future-oriented course of study.

More about the CHE University Ranking

The CHE University Ranking is made up of the student survey as well as data and facts on teaching and research. It is the most comprehensive and detailed comparison of universities in the German-speaking world. More than 300 universities and universities of applied sciences were assessed in the current ranking. The individual subjects are re-evaluated every three years. This year it was the turn of German studies, Romance studies, architecture, educational science, psychology, civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics and mechanical engineering. The results are published in the ZEIT Study Guide 2025/26 and on HeyStudium on ZEIT Online.
