Anti-Semitism and the AfD
Book presentation in cooperation with the Bücherkiste bookstore and the Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation in Siegerland e.V., featuring Stefan Dietl (journalist, labor union activist) as part of the series “Anti-Semitism, Antiziganism & Political Education, organized by POLIS and the Office for Equal Opportunity at the University of Siegen.
Book Presentation
“Anti-Semitism is pervasive in the AfD.”
Time and again, AfD officials resort to anti-Semitic stereotypes and conspiracy theories or downplay the crimes of National Socialism. In his book *Anti-Semitism and the AfD* (Verbrecher Verlag, 2025), Stefan Dietl describes anti-Semitism as a fundamental element of the party’s ideology and its model for understanding the world.
In doing so, he examines the various manifestations of antisemitism within the AfD, as well as the party’s portrayal of itself as a bulwark against antisemitism and an advocate for Israel. At the same time, Dietl examines the alleged taboo surrounding hatred of Jews in German society and the resurgence of antisemitism in the public sphere.
