Book Presentation
This anthology presents practical approaches to civic education on the sensitive and diverse topic of Sinti* and Roma*. The contributions, most of which are community-based, combine factual information and teaching suggestions with perspectives from the civil rights movement.
From the book: “Contributions—written predominantly by authors from these minority groups—are intended in particular to help teachers who are now facing the challenge of leading educational processes on this sensitive topic for the first time. They aim to provide initial guidance and, by countering stereotypical—convey a vivid impression of the diversity of possible approaches and positions—not only within but also from the communities addressed—and, finally, offer not only inspiration for one’s own educational work but also very concrete suggestions and examples for designing appropriate materials.”
The editors will present the anthology, published in 2025 by Wochenschau Verlag, as part of the fall conference of the German Association for Political Education. Registration for the book presentation is not required.
