Frequently Asked Questions / Common Issues
There may be times during your studies when you have doubts about whether to continue your studies. In such cases, please take advantage of the services offered by our Central Student Advising Office, which includes one-on-one meetings, workshops, and information sessions!
To qualify for the academic performance certificate under § 48 of the BAföG, you must have earned half of the available credit points (60 LP) by the end of the 4th semester. If some of your exams have not yet been graded or if there are other special circumstances, please contact the Registrar’s Office.
Unfortunately, we cannot retroactively register anyone who signs up late. We need reliable numbers by a certain date in order to book rooms. If we were to make an exception, we would have to admit all latecomers in the interest of fairness. That, in turn, would render the room reservations obsolete and lead to chaos.

- You are required to keep yourself informed, on your own initiative and on an ongoing basis, of the requirements set forth in the examination regulations and implementing provisions—and, in particular, of dates and deadlines. This also applies to announcements, notices, etc., posted by the Registrar’s Office on our website or on the bulletin board.
- Unfortunately, lack of knowledge is not a valid reason for exceptions.
