Shared Resources Directory
The Shared Resources Directory (SRD) is an easy and user-firendly platform that supports researchers and educators throughout the ATHENA network. It serves as a hub for fostering new ideas, strengthening collaboration, and exploring the capacities and research areas of our community.
ATHENA’s collaborative research and teaching activities are organized into thematic clusters. Within the clusters, you can submit new ideas, explore ongoing projects, and initiate collaborations with colleagues across the entire network via the SRD. Projects or ideas outside the cluster themes are also welcome and will be stored in the "Sandbox"!

To coordinate collaborative projects in research and teaching, the ATHENA partner universities have formed thematic clusters that serve as our shared focal points for an interdisciplinary and focused transformation.
Exploring innovative digital solutions to enhance education and research accessibility
Digital transformation changes the way we obtain information, communicate, learn, work and consume – basically, the way we live. The Hub actively drives the ongoing digital transformation, leveraging technologies like edge intelligence, artificial intelligence, nanoelectronics, embedded systems, software engineering, and ICT. It aims to harness technological progress to enhance regional competitiveness, create prosperity , and improve citizens’ quality of life. It is committed to shaping the digital transformation in a socially acceptable way, aligned with fundamental values.

Advancing environmentally friendly production methods and sustainable industrial practices
With a focus on industries like metal processing, agrifood, chemical, pharmaceutical, automotive, and textiles, the Sustainable Production Hub supports the ecological transition of secondary sector industries within ATHENA ecosystems. It embraces concepts such as Industry 4.0, circular economic systems, carbon-neutral manufacturing, intelligent recycling, resource efficiency and smart (energy) materials, along with hydrogen technology.

Promoting research in healthcare, nutrition and well-being
Addressing the global challenge of ensuring healthy living with a growing population and resource restrictions, the Health and Wellbeing Hub concentrates on developing and utilising advanced medical and agricultural technologies. Activities include mobile digital medicine, health in rural areas, Agriculture 4.0, food safety, assistive technologies, ubiquitous contaminant detection and capture, tailored to the local context of ATHENA ecosystems.

Aimed at interdisciplinary consolidation of education, research, and impact-driven activities
In this cluster, we combine fields such as media and communication, digital interactive media, cultural management, arts, education, cultural heritage, digital marketing, AR/VR solutions, virtual production, creative entrepreneurship, advertising, branding, creative writing, publishing, translation, and numerous other fields. Four major thematic directions that hold significant potential for collaboration are the following: Cultural Heritage, Digital Humanities, Digital Media Production with AI, Film and Visual Production. The interdisciplinary nature makes this cluster an ideal domain for fostering innovation, and creating a dynamic and versatile platform for collaboration.
