As a supplement to interdisciplinary repositories such as Zenodo, FoDaSi ("Forschungsdaten in Siegen", i.e. "Research Data in Siegen") is aimed in particular at researchers who do not have suitable storage locations for their research data in their disciplines.
Features of FoDaSi
-
FoDaSi is based on the RADAR service service from FIZ Karlsruhe and is hosted locally at ZIMT.
-
FoDaSi offers comprehensive rights management and (optional) delayed publication of research data.
There is no obligation to publish! -
Various (subject-specific) metadata formats (DE) are supported for the indexing, documentation and retrievability of research data.
-
All digital objects receive a persistent identifier (DE) (for example DOI).
-
Data can be linked to publications on the publication and document server OPUS of Siegen University Library.
-
Research data can be stored for up to 15 years.
To view and download publications in FoDaSi
-
All research data currently published in FoDaSi can be viewed directly without a login at forschungsdaten.uni-siegen.de (s. also box).
-
Individual files and complete directories of published and archived data packages (TAR archive, BagIt-compliant) can be downloaded.
-
Individual files are provided in their original format, directories in .TAR format [name of directory-timestamp.tar].

General Terms and Conditions for the Use of the Research Data Repository of the University of Siegen
- By accepting the terms and conditions for the use of FoDaSi, a contract of use is concluded between the user and the University of Siegen (USi) as the provider of FoDaSi.
- On behalf of USi, ZIMT (i.e. Centre for Information and Media Technology) and the University Library are joint providers of the institutional research data repository FoDaSi, which supports researchers at the University of Siegen in the long-term archiving of their research data from completed scientific studies and projects and in making it available for scientific use.
- By accepting these General Terms and Conditions, the user is authorized to use the data object specified below for scientific purposes.
- The data user shall receive the above-mentioned data subject upon conclusion of the contract.
- USi accepts no liability for the accuracy, up-to-dateness and reliability of the data material provided or any associated materials.
- The data user will not be charged for researching in FoDaSi or for downloading from USi.
- The data user warrants that he/she will use the data material and associated materials provided exclusively for the purpose of his/her own scientific research and teaching in accordance with the license associated with the data material.
- The data user assures that he/she will not pass on the data material and associated materials to third parties. In the case that the data is used in a project group, the data user is responsible for ensuring that the terms of use agreed here are complied with.
- The data user is obliged to identify the data provider and the USi within the scope of the citation obligation in the event of publication based wholly or partly on the data material provided and associated materials.
- The data user warrants that no attempts will be made to re-identify or contact respondents.
- The data user warrants that he/she will inform USi of any possible errors in the data material provided to him/her by USi and any associated materials.
- The contract comes into force when these General Terms and Conditions are accepted. The data user then has the option of downloading the contract and saving and printing it.
