Field trips, experiments, and lots of vacation fun

Creative activities and exciting field trips made for a varied summer vacation program at the University of Siegen. Seventy-three children from 52 families enjoyed an eventful summer break.

In addition to a diverse program of creative, athletic, educational, and relaxing activities, this year’s summer vacation program once again featured numerous collaborative initiatives. One highlight was the collaboration with the Weidenau Fire Department: Over several days, the children participated in workshops where they learned a great deal about fire and firefighting, how to respond correctly in the event of a fire, and how to handle special situations such as power outages, flooding, and storms. The program also included a visit to the fire station and a barbecue.

In addition, the children once again visited the OASE Learning Workshop at the University of Siegen. Through experiments in mathematics education, they were able to discover mathematical phenomena in a playful way and get hands-on experience.

Another highlight of the program was the experiential learning workshop in the adjacent forest. Together, the children embarked on an exciting adventure and worked as a group to overcome various challenges.

The summer care team from the Equal Opportunity Department had also prepared numerous activities of their own and, with great dedication, creativity, and educational commitment, ensured that there was something for all age groups. This allowed the children to try new things, be active, get creative, and, of course, simply enjoy their summer break.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the counselors and all our partners, whose ideas and dedication contributed to a successful summer vacation program. It was especially wonderful to see the joy and enthusiasm with which the children embraced the activities and shaped the vacation weeks together.

Now, the upcoming fall break program is already on the horizon. Registrations are being accepted starting today.
