Fifth "disPLAY" artwork on the SVB building

The joint art project "disPLAY" by the University of Siegen, the City of Siegen and Siegener Versorgungsbetriebe (SVB) GmbH continues: "LOOOPS", a gigantic QR code on the façade of the SVB building, now leads to works by "gruppe 3/55".

A giant QR code with the title "LOOOPS" hangs as the fifth "disPLAY" artwork on the SVB building in Siegen. The link leads to works by "gruppe 3/55".

The fifth "art gift" in the continuation of the "disPLAY" art series launched for the 800th anniversary of the city of Siegen was developed by the Siegen artists' group "3/55". The hand-applied colorful QR code on an oversized banner is expected to be on display on the SVB building in Siegen's Morleystraße until late autumn. To mark the city's anniversary, an exhibition space was created here in May last year in cooperation with KulturSiegen and the Wanderspace project under the direction of the "Artistic Strategies in Public Space and Cultural Education" department at the University of Siegen. It shows changing works by international, national and regional artists.

"disPLAY artworks" at a glance

Following the artworks "Maqueta para un recuerdo (Model for a memory)" by Valeria Fahrenkrog, "ALL HUMANS LOVE" by Julia Bünnagel, "Brag" by David Mergelmeyer and "Fly-over" by Frauke Dannert, "LOOOPS" is the fifth artwork in the cooperation between the University of Siegen (Wanderspace project of the Department of Art), KulturSiegen and the SVB.

"LOOOPS": Weekly changing short films about Siegen

The oversized QR code, which can also be seen from the HTS City-Galerie exit, opens up a digital art space. Behind the code are weekly changing short films by "gruppe 3/55" and artist friends, which can be accessed online.
The mesh banner acts as an indirect display: a scan with a smartphone opens up artistic perspectives on Siegen and its surroundings - real, familiar, enigmatic and always new. The colorful design picks up on traces of the SVB building and refers to the diversity of the experimental films, all of which are rooted in analog and biographical experience.

"LOOOPS" is a project by "gruppe 3/55", realized in cooperation with Stadt Siegen/Kultur Siegen, University of Siegen (Department of Artistic Strategies in Public Space & Cultural Education/Wanderspace) and Siegener Versorgungsbetriebe. Finally, all project participants invite you to the finissage on the top parking deck of the City-Galerie on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 6 pm.

About the group of artists:

Named after the curious numbering of a platform at Siegen main station, the registered association "gruppe 3/55" has been promoting young, not yet established artists in Siegen for over 25 years. It organizes the annual KUNSTWECHSEL and regularly participates in various constellations at the Siegen ART Day and the KUNSTSOMMER. In addition, she has been running the POOOL exhibition project since 2019 - first in vacant premises in Herrengarten, digitally during the coronavirus pandemic, in 2023/24 at Kochs Ecke and now in the rented store at Löhrstraße 3 in Siegen's Oberstadt district, where changing exhibitions combined with readings, music and more take place.
