Quantum computing made in Germany - that's what eleQtron stands for. Founded at the University of Siegen, eleQtron develops and operates quantum computers together with partners such as Forschungszentrum Jülich and the German Aerospace Center. Professor Dr. Christof Wunderlich is the founder of the first German start-up for quantum computing and conducts research in the field of quantum optics at the University of Siegen. Prof. Wunderlich will leave the management of eleQtron on June 30, 2025, but will remain on board as a shareholder.

Prof. Dr. Christof Wunderlich: "As a scientist, it is extraordinary to see how Germany's first quantum computer start-up has emerged from years of basic research. Now is the right time to pass on the baton. I am therefore stepping back from operational management and will be devoting myself fully to my research at the University of Siegen. As founder and shareholder, I will remain closely associated with eleQtron and would like to sincerely thank all employees, partners and companions for their commitment and the great joint achievements! I wish the new management team continued success and am convinced that eleQtron is on an excellent course - ready for sustainable growth and further success and forward-looking developments. I look forward to making a significant contribution to the next chapters!"

"Prof. Christof Wunderlich is the scientific father of our technology platform - without his basic research, MAGIC technology would not exist in this form. We are therefore deeply grateful to him for his impetus, his tireless energy and the wonderful collaboration. The connection to Prof. Wunderlich and the University of Siegen remains close and trusting - we look forward to further joint projects and exchanges," explain Dr. Michael Johanning and Jan Leisse, both Managing Directors of eleQtron.

Dr. Michael Johanning, CTO (Chief Technology Officer) worked at the chair of Prof. Wunderlich and is a co-founder of eleQtron. Dr. Johanning will consistently continue the technology development. eleQtron is now focusing even more strongly on engineering, product development and industrial scaling - as the logical next step after the scientific pioneering phase.

About eleQtron

eleQtron is the first quantum computer manufacturer in Germany. Founded in 2020 in Siegen, Germany, the company develops scalable ion trap quantum processors based on its proprietary MAGIC© technology, which replaces complex laser systems with radio frequency control - a breakthrough that enables precise, stable and scalable quantum computing systems. The start-up was supported by the Siegerland Fund and Earlybird Venture Capital, among others.

About the University of Siegen

The University of Siegen is an interdisciplinary research university. It is firmly rooted in the South Westphalia region and is widely networked both nationally and internationally. With its research and teaching, it aims to contribute to a future that is oriented towards people and characterized by responsibility for society.
