LightMAT 2027: All the details and dates for the international conference on lightweight construction science
What is LightMAT?
LightMAT is an international conference on lightweight metals and lightweight construction materials. It focuses on current developments related to aluminum, magnesium, titanium, and their alloys, as well as multi-material concepts. The conference is aimed at researchers, engineers, and experts from academia and industry who are involved in the development, processing, characterization, simulation, and application of modern lightweight materials.
Thematically, LightMAT covers a broad spectrum: from alloy development, additive manufacturing, and forming, through joining and surface engineering, to corrosion protection, materials testing, modeling, and sustainable manufacturing. The conference thus provides a platform to present new research findings, discuss industrial challenges, and establish international contacts within the materials community.
Where and when will LightMAT 2027 take place?
LightMAT 2027 will take place from March 10 to 12, 2027, in Siegen and online. The venue is the Buschhütten Campus in Kreuztal, which, as an interface between university research, industrial applications, and modern production technology, offers a suitable environment for professional exchange.
Thanks to the hybrid format, presentations and program items can be followed both in person and online. This makes the conference accessible to an international audience and allows for flexible participation by researchers, industry professionals, and early-career researchers.
Dates and Deadlines for Abstracts
For anyone wishing to submit their own contributions, the deadlines related to the call for abstracts are particularly important. Submissions of abstracts for talks, poster pitch presentations, and posters will be accepted starting March 10, 2026. The submission deadline is July 8, 2026.
The submitted contributions will then be reviewed. Authors are expected to be notified in July 2026 regarding the acceptance of their abstracts and the format of their contributions. The preliminary scientific program is scheduled to be published in July 2026.
Other important deadlines include the submission of extended abstracts for the Book of Abstracts by February 22, 2027, and the upload of digital poster files by March 3, 2027. LightMAT 2027 will finally begin on March 10, 2027, and run through March 12, 2027.
Why Submitting a Paper Is Worthwhile
LightMAT offers an excellent opportunity to present current research findings to an international audience of experts and to engage in dialogue with specialists in materials science, manufacturing technology, and industry. Of particular interest are contributions on lightweight metals, sustainable materials development, additive manufacturing, characterization, simulation, joining, corrosion protection, and industrial applications.
For researchers, doctoral candidates, and project teams, the conference also offers the opportunity to showcase ongoing work, receive feedback from the professional community, and establish new contacts for scientific or industrial collaborations.
