National Warning Day: Test alert also available via the University of Siegen app
On Thursday, September 10, 2026, the nationwide warning day will take place. Starting at 11:00 a.m., various warning systems will be activated throughout Germany. The goal of the test alarm is to raise public awareness, optimize warning procedures, and test the interoperability of different systems.
Here’s how the warnings will be issued:
- In Siegen and the surrounding area, sirens will sound at 11:00 a.m.
- Alert notifications via the NINA app and via cell broadcast to mobile devices
- Warnings via radio, television, and digital city information displays
A warning in the University of Siegen app
The University of Siegen app will also be included in the warning day. Users will receive a test “Critical Alert”—similar to NINA or KATWARN. Anyone who would like to participate in the test should install the latest version of the University of Siegen app from the Google Play Store or the App Store.
