The University of Siegen has launched the new "Siegen Junior Fellows" network. The aim is to bring all scholarship holders and students nominated for a scholarship from the Studienstiftung at the University of Siegen closer together. Regular events and meetings should not only promote the personal and academic development of the participants, but also improve the exchange of knowledge and career prospects.

"With the Siegen Junior Fellows network, we are creating a platform that promotes exchange between committed students and gives them impetus for their future academic and professional path. Studying and academic careers are challenging - so networking, new perspectives and shared ideas are all the more important. This is exactly what the Siegen Junior Fellows make possible," explain Prof. Dr. Stefanie Reese (Rector) and Prof. Dr. Petra M. Vogel (Prorector for Students and Junior Faculty, Diversity and International Affairs) of the University of Siegen.

Scholarship holders of all foundations (Bachelor's and Master's students) and Siegen scholarship holders of the Deutschlandstipendium are accepted for the "Siegen Junior Fellows". In addition, there are other students who have been nominated for scholarships. Regular meetings, workshops and networking opportunities give participants the chance to make new contacts and exchange experiences and knowledge. This is intended to support their own academic and professional development as well as collaboration within the University of Siegen. There are currently 124 fellows in the program.

The official kick-off took place on September 29, 2025. In a team-building event with the agency "Bash Boom Bang" from Siegen, the students got to know each other better in small teams through a variety of mini-games. Whether mental exercise, dexterity or speed - all tasks could only be solved together and were thus entirely in line with the network community concept.

The foundation stone has been laid with this successful kick-off: In future, the "Siegen Junior Fellows" will meet regularly to share knowledge, ideas and experiences - and thus build a strong, interdisciplinary network at the University of Siegen. On the part of the university, the initiative is led by Ira Dexling and is assigned to the Prorectorates of Prof. Dr. Petra M. Vogel. Scholarship holders at the University of Siegen who would like to participate can contact Ira Dexling.
