Prof. Reese scores highly in the ranking of rectors
Very good result in the "Rector of the Year 2025" election for the Rector of the University of Siegen, Prof. Dr. Stefanie Reese: 84% of participants gave her a positive rating in the survey conducted by the German Association of University Professors and Lecturers (DHV). The DHV invites its members to vote every year. All rectors who receive at least 30 ratings are included in the ranking. Reese landed in 10th place among these rectors.
"I am very pleased with this result. It is a great motivation for my future work in Siegen," said Reese. A total of 38 DHV members had submitted a rating for her. Just under 32 percent of respondents said that she was the "ideal candidate" for the position of Rector. 39.5 percent consider her to be a "very good" candidate and a further 13 percent consider her to be a "rather good" candidate. As in the previous year, the Rector of TU Dortmund University, Prof. Dr. Manfred Bayer, came in first place in the ranking. Prof. Dr. Susanne Menzel-Riedl, President of the University of Osnabrück, and Prof. Dr. Kai Fischbach, President of the University of Bamberg, followed in second and third place. Both were in the good upper midfield in the previous year (5th and 6th place respectively) and are now at the top for the first time.
Every year, the DHV also calls on its members to vote for the Science Minister of the Year. As in 2020 and 2023, Katharina Fegebank, Science Senator of the State of Hamburg, was again voted first in this election. Dr. Armin Willingmann, Science Minister of the State of Saxony-Anhalt, was voted second, and Dr. Manja Schüle, Science Minister of Brandenburg, third. The Science Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, Ina Brandes, is in eighth place in the ranking.
A total of 3,527 members of the German University Association took part in at least one of the votes.
