Starting August 12, 2026, the EU Packaging Regulation (PPWR, Regulation (EU) 2025/40) will apply in Germany and throughout the EU. It introduces far-reaching new requirements for all companies that place packaging or packaged products on the EU internal market.
Since virtually every supply chain relies on packaging, the PPWR affects companies across all industries. New obligations arise, among other things, regarding labeling, extended producer responsibility, and the sustainability assessment of packaging.
The Siegen Wittgenstein Regional Forum invites you to an informational event on October 1, 2026, which will provide you with a clear overview of the PPWR—legally sound, practical, and featuring concrete recommendations for action for your company.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Structure and key regulatory areas of the PPWR—explained concisely
- Who is affected? Definition of roles and scope (especially manufacturers/producers) with reference to the local industry
- An overview of extended producer responsibility and sustainability requirements
- Status of the German implementing legislation and regulatory outlook
- Case Study: Challenges of the Regulation from a Business Perspective
- Case Study: Challenges of the Regulation from a Packaging Manufacturer’s Perspective
