THE Ranking: University of Siegen improves again
Position maintained, score increased
The University of Siegen continues its positive trend in international comparison: In the worldwide university ranking of the magazine "Times Higher Education" (THE), it once again occupies a place in the 501 to 600 range. A total of 2,191 universities were assessed in the ranking - that was 100 more than last year. Despite the increased competition, the University of Siegen was able to hold its own and even improve its overall score compared to the previous year.
The THE ranking evaluates universities in five performance dimensions: Teaching, research environment, research quality, internationality and cooperation with industry. The University of Siegen scored particularly well in the areas of research environment and industry integration - here, funding from industry and patents are taken into account in relation to the number of academic employees. The university also achieved an increase in internationality: both the proportion of international students and the proportion of international academic staff increased.
On the other hand, slight decreases were recorded in the supervision ratio and academic citations.
At the top of this year's ranking worldwide are the University of Oxford (UK), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), Princeton University (USA) and the University of Cambridge (UK). Among German universities, the TU Munich is in the lead, followed by the LMU Munich and the University of Heidelberg.
The University of Siegen is ranked 42nd among German universities, maintaining its position from last year.
