Course Registration

At the Faculty of Humanities, registration is required for all courses; this means that you must register for all courses via the ‘unisono’ campus management system within the registration deadlines.

The course catalog is available no earlier than ten weeks before the start of courses. Course registration begins eight weeks before the start of courses.

  • Starting August 3, 2026 - Orientation Phase: During the two weeks following the publication of the course catalog on August 3, 2026, students can learn about the courses being offered.
  • August 17 - September 6, 2026 - Registration Phase 1: Course registration via unisono is only possible starting August 17, 2026. During this time, lecturers can neither approve nor reject registrations.
  • August 17 - October 8, 2026, 1:00 p.m. - Registration phase for first-semester students for courses scheduled for the first semester. Seats will be allocated starting October 8, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
  • September 7 - September 20, 2026 - Seat allocation for Registration Phase 1 by lecturers.
  • September 21 - October 4, 2026 – Registration Phase 2: This phase allows students to respond to rejections from the first registration phase. Unlike in the first registration phase, students may already be admitted to or rejected from a course during this period. Courses that are already at capacity do not need to be reopened for registration!
  • October 5 -  February 7, 2027 - Registration Phase 3 (optional): In addition, selected courses may have additional registration periods assigned to them if they begin late in the semester or are planned as supplementary offerings. Information on whether additional enrollment opportunities are available can be found in unisono for each individual course.

  1. When registering for courses, pay attention to the module assignments in the course structure tree and verify that the prerequisites specified in your examination regulations for the relevant degree program have been met.
  2. The timing of registration during registration phase 1 does not affect potential admission.

Exam Registration

In the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, all achievements and exams are generally registered and recorded online via the unisono campus management system.

You must register during the applicable registration period.

First Exam Period / Exams throughout the semester (SL and PL):
       Monday, June 8, 2026, to Thursday (!), July 9, 2026.

Second Exam Period / Retake exams (SL and PL):
Starting Saturday, July 25, 2026 (for scheduled exams, generally up to one week before the exam date!).

Scheduled exams ( SL and PL):
Withdrawal is possible up to seven days before the exam date, the assignment due date, or similar deadlines

Non-scheduled exams (SL and PL):
Withdrawal is possible at any time.

Please note: If you are unable to withdraw from exams on your own, please contact your Examination Office or the phil: unisono team.

  1. There is a second date for scheduled exams (written exams or written tests) in all courses offered by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Students who take the first exam may use the second exam as a chance to retake it. Students who take only the second exam are not entitled to another exam date during the same semester.
    It follows that

    a) that achievements without a scheduled date must be registered for during the first exam period.

    b) registration for scheduled exams (written exams or written tests) for the second exam date (second exam period) may take place even if the student did not register for the first exam date.

  2. Guides, FAQs, and Inquiry Form: Instructions and further information can be found under the “Guides” category on this website as well as in the FAQ section of Faculty I. Students experiencing problems with exam registration can also use an inquiry form to direct questions directly to the relevant staff members of the phil: unisono team.

  3. Missed Registration Deadline: Information on what to do if you miss a registration deadline can be found in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities’ FAQs.

  4. Withdrawal deadline and sick leave: If you need to withdraw due to illness, you must submit the appropriate form and a doctor’s note to the Examination Office.
