Prof. Dr. Jasmin Grosinger

Develops creative ideas for communication engineering and turns them into functional prototypes - from theoretical concepts to tangible innovation.

Portrait von Prof. Dr. Jasmin Grosinger

My professorship is titled:
Professorship of Communication Engineering (Faculty IV)

This is what my research is about:
My research focuses on energy-efficient and sustainable wireless communication. We develop new methods and systems for reliable information transfer and energy-autonomous operation of devices – from batteryless sensors to highly integrated wireless solutions for the Internet of Things.

That’s what fascinates me most about my field of research:
I am fascinated that in communication engineering we can develop creative ideas and, of course within the limits of physics, turn them into functional prototypes. It is rewarding to see theoretical concepts evolve into tangible, real-world innovations.

Why Siegen?
The University of Siegen offers an inspiring environment with strong interdisciplinary diversity. Here, I can advance sustainable communication technologies together with dedicated colleagues and students and contribute new impulses to research and teaching.

My most interesting previous career stations were:

  • Research Intern, Disney Research, Pittsburgh, PA, USA
  • Visiting Associate Professor, Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan
  • Visiting Professor, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany

That’s what students learn in my courses, e.g.:
In my courses, students acquire fundamental knowledge of communication engineering and gain insights into research-related topics such as wireless power technologies and energy-efficient communication systems. They learn to design modern, sustainable communication solutions.

In my free time I enjoy:
traveling, spending time in nature, discovering new places with family and friends, and listening to classical music – preferably live.
