Storage services

The storage service within the university's inner network provides employees, institutes/project groups and the university's administration with network drives (NAS) (Network Attached Storage). It is a highly available data storage system for the devices of authorized users.

Description

In addition to ensuring data integrity (protection against failing hard disks), data storage also regularly provides restore points (write-protected previous versions as protection against ransomware and accidental manipulation) and replication to a second central system (protection against total loss of the physical system). Only in case there are special requirements for the timing of restore points should a backup outside of the ZIMT's NAS be considered.
