About the price
The Siegen Science and Innovation Award recognizes outstanding achievements in science or innovations in business that have a special connection to the city and region of Siegen and generate an impact here.
The award is intended to recognize work that deals with regionally significant topics, contributes to solving social challenges or promotes the exchange between science, business and society in the region. In particular, these are works that contribute directly to the economic, social or cultural development of the region or promote public understanding of regional issues.
The scientific quality of the submitted work, its originality and innovative content as well as its relevance for the South Westphalia region are decisive for the awarding of the prize.
Special consideration is given to projects that pursue an interdisciplinary approach, open up new perspectives for the region through innovative methods and stand out through particularly successful scientific communication.

The Siegen Science and Innovation Prize is awarded on the recommendation of third parties. Proposals can be submitted by members of all universities in the South Westphalia region as well as by citizens of the region. Self-application is excluded.

- Justification of the nomination by the nominator (max. one page)
- Two independent statements from experts (max. one page)
- CV of the candidate (max. 5 pages)
- For research teams: CV of all members
- Consent to data processing
The documents can be submitted in German or English. The documents must be sent by e-mail by 15.06.2026 at the latest as a PDF to the following address: wiss.innov.preis@uni-siegen.de
