Student Initiatives and Clubs

Campus TV is the student television station at the University of Siegen. Throughout the semester, we bring you news about the university and cultural life in the Siegerland region.

And… we’re always looking for new talent! You can do just about anything with us: editorial work, reporting, editing, camerawork, hosting, production coordination, and more. For us, getting involved is all about trying things out: You don’t need any prior experience, and there aren’t really any fixed roles. If you’d like, you can try your hand at everything—and of course, there will always be a few more experienced members of our team on hand to help you.

We also run our own website with our own online editorial team. We’re always looking for new creative minds there, too. If you’d like to get involved with us (students from all disciplines are welcome!), just stop by the next editorial meeting (Mondays at 6 p.m. in the ZIMT Studio (AR-X-003)) or get in touch via email.

The eLab operates its own small electronics lab where students can gain hands-on experience with technical projects. There are two tables each equipped with soldering stations, measuring stations, and computer workstations where you can work and experiment. The rooms in H-H 02 are open only during operating hours and only if the status on the website indicates that they are open.

Hello, fellow filmmakers, film buffs, film scholars, film enthusiasts, film lovers, -critics, and -commentators—the student initiative “Filmwerkstatt Uni Siegen” offers you a space where you can pursue your passion while surrounded by like-minded people. Here’s what Filmwerkstatt says about itself: “We want to be a forum for those who want to discuss films. We want to support those who want to shoot and produce their own films. We want to be a platform where you can make new connections. We want to be your go-to resource for anything related to film at the University of Siegen and beyond. Whether it’s technical issues, aesthetic questions, or production challenges, we can discuss them TOGETHER here—and hopefully resolve them as well. So don’t be afraid—just ask if you have any questions.”

Radius 92.1 is the campus radio station at the University of Siegen. In other words, it’s radio by students, for students. The Radius 92.1 editorial team consists of students from various departments. We cover everything that interests students. That includes, of course, the latest university news, but also everything related to student life. Where’s the next party? Where’s the best place to have a barbecue in Siegen? Which movie at the university theater should you definitely catch? Radius 92.1 has all the answers. Plus, Radius 92.1 plays plenty of great music. With us, you’ll hear the latest singles before they hit the charts. We play the tracks that are usually too loud for the radio. So if you’re into alternative, rock, hip-hop, or R&B, Radius 92.1 is the place for you.

The Speeding Scientists Siegen (s3racing) are the University of Siegen’s racing team. This student project has been building its own formula race car every year since 2008 and once won the Newcomer Award at the Hockenheimring. The project brings together students from a wide variety of majors across all Schools to collaborate on the planning, development, manufacturing, marketing, and driving of the car, and to compete against teams from around the world in international design competitions at various events. To date, they have produced more than ten roadworthy Formula race cars. Anyone with a basic interest in the engineering design process and a desire to make a big impact is welcome to join.

USK57 – the student gaming initiative dedicated to researching and promoting gaming culture. We’re a group of students who host a game night at the university every two weeks. We play a variety of games from all kinds of genres—and if you’d like, we can even play your favorite game! Anyone who’s interested is welcome to join us before game night for a short presentation where we explore a specific topic from the broad field of gaming culture together—for example, Mario Kart, Magic: The Gathering, or Japanese dating simulators. And whether you like to crush candies, play Monopoly, or compete professionally in Overwatch—everyone is welcome here. 

For events, we partner with other organizations, such as Spielkultur Siegen e. V., GamesCoop, the Siegen Museum of Contemporary Art, or the Kreuztal City Library, and we also promote our activities outside the University of Siegen. If you’re in the mood for outings, we’ve got plenty to offer: From the Pinball and Arcade Museum in Seligenstadt to the world’s largest game fair, SPIEL, in Essen, and the game culture festivals PLAY in Hamburg or A MAZE in Berlin—there’s plenty on the agenda. 

Twice a year, we host our own gaming festivals, where you can look forward to several days of activities ranging from board games to (retro) consoles and LAN tournaments, as well as urban games winding through the city center and virtual reality experiences. For gaming enthusiasts who’d like to contribute their own ideas and get involved in various areas of our organization as they wish, we also offer part-time internships—don’t hesitate to reach out to us!

We at Study & Consult e.V. are the student management consulting firm at the University of Siegen. Our organization brings together students from various academic disciplines to apply the knowledge they’ve gained in their daily university life to real-world situations. Everyone can contribute their individual strengths and talents not only to the further development of the association but also to real-world consulting projects addressing a wide range of business topics and challenges. In addition to exciting social events, training sessions, and workshops, we’re part of a large network of motivated students and companies from all over Germany. We enjoy our club life and are committed to personal growth, learning, and self-improvement. We support one another because community is our top priority. Everyone is welcome!

We are an association of dedicated students in the fields of engineering and business. We see ourselves as a bridge between our members, academia, and the business world. As an active member of our umbrella organizations, VWI and ESTIEM, we provide access to networks across Germany and Europe. We also offer a framework for shaping our community together, thereby fostering the personal and professional growth of our members.

Kunstwertschätzen is a student-led initiative that regularly organizes events to promote creativity in the Siegen area. In addition to a program featuring music, literature, dance, and improvisational theater, these events always include an open mic where anyone can participate spontaneously. Kunstwertschätzen events are generally free of charge and aim to provide a space and a stage for the artistic and creative potential in Siegen. In addition to the stage program, Kunstwertschätzen organizes creative workshops at its events for anyone who enjoys artistic activities. Anyone who has something creative to present or would like to help with the organization is welcome to participate. We’re always looking for new and dedicated volunteers in the areas of public relations, organization, technical support, and workshop facilitation. Just come talk to us at our events or general meetings if you’re interested in helping us celebrate art. You can find the dates online, where you’re also welcome to contact us via email.
