Practical semester

Before and during the practical school part of the practical semester, mandatory preparatory and accompanying seminars take place at the university and the centers for practical school teacher training (ZfsL), in which you will receive professional and interdisciplinary support.

University preparatory seminars

In the preparatory seminars for the practical semester, you will generally be prepared for your practical phase at school in all subjects or learning areas studied and in the educational sciences in the semester preceding the practical school part. The seminars are held by lecturers from the University of Siegen and aim to develop and expand selected theoretical and practical foundations that are relevant for you during the practical semester.
Participation in the preparatory seminars is a prerequisite for enrollment in PVP. In the module handbooks and the subject-specific regulations
of the subjects and educational sciences you will find further information on the organization of the preparatory seminars.

Accompanying seminars of the ZfsL

At the beginning of the practical school part of the practical semester, you will attend an introductory and interdisciplinary accompanying seminar at your assigned ZfsL during the lecture-free period. It usually begins on the Friday before the start of the practical part of the semester and is held by the seminar or subject leaders of the ZfsL. During the lecture-free period, the accompanying seminar usually takes place on Fridays at the ZfsL learning location.

University accompanying seminars

At the beginning of the lecture period, the ZfsL accompanying seminar ends and the three or four university accompanying seminars in your subjects or learning areas as well as in educational sciences begin. They take place during the lecture period (i.e. approx. October to February and approx. April to July) in blocks on a flexible study day each week. You can find the current dates in unisono.
