Evaluation and monitoring

The ZLB regularly conducts evaluations of teacher training at various stages of the student life cycle. These evaluations are embedded in the university-wide quality management system and thus contribute to quality assurance and development in teaching and learning.

Interdisciplinary and cross-faculty aspects of the teacher training course are evaluated, such as the design of the practical phases and the studyability of the combined degree course. In addition, overarching organizational and structural aspects of teacher training are surveyed in order to adapt courses accordingly and identify development needs.

The ZLB's internal programs and offerings, such as the LehramtPLUS certificate program and the offerings of the teacher training workshop, are also subject to regular evaluation.

The results of the evaluations are processed for quality assurance purposes and are incorporated into the structural and content-related further development of the teacher training program. If necessary, information, advice and support services are adapted and/or expanded. Evaluations of surveys of the individual phases are also regularly presented and discussed in the ZLB Council in order to promote constructive exchange between the teacher training Schools and subjects and to initiate changes or jointly work on identified fields of action.

The results of the interdisciplinary practical semester evaluation are also discussed in the Cooperation Council with the university's cooperation partners in the context of practical teacher training. Inter-university exchange takes place in the state-wide working group "Exchange Forum for Quality Assurance in the Practical Semester".

In terms of continuous quality development, the evaluation results are used to prepare and conduct the annual review of teaching practice and are included in the annual reviews of the subjects as required. These two instruments of quantitative and qualitative surveys form a joint mixed methods approach.

Feedback from the various exchange formats is incorporated into the further development of the respective questionnaires for the next cohort to be evaluated.
