Several thousand people move around the University of Siegen every day - students, staff and guests. Conflicts or unpleasant situations cannot always be avoided.

However, we do not tolerate harassment, violence or threats of violence of any kind - whether verbal or physical!

Threat management stands for a culture of awareness and appreciation. Good learning, research and work can only succeed if we feel safe and protected.

Therefore, please speak to us if

• Another person behaves in a threatening manner
• Another person makes or implies threats towards third parties
• You are being harassed or stalked
• Someone speaks to you about suicidal intentions or hints at them

We will take your concerns seriously and seek a personal discussion with you. If necessary, we will take further steps.

Uncertainty

Often, threatening situations and hazards cannot be adequately assessed subjectively, without expert knowledge. Our team will support you at all times. Please also bear in mind that the person displaying worrying behavior may also need help.

Criminal charges

We will always check whether a criminal complaint is necessary and, if so, will prepare one immediately

Accident at work report

Experiences of violence or threats in the workplace can cause acute, but also delayed health problems, particularly of a psychological nature. Such experiences are therefore equivalent to an accident at work. To ensure that benefits are granted without complications, an accident report must always be submitted after such an incident.

Documentation

Complete documentation of all incidents is required for any necessary case management (needs-based, long-term support from the threat management team). Current information can be used to optimally assess behavioral abnormalities and support those affected.
