He received his Diploma degree (Dipl.- Math.) in mathematics/ computer science in 1981 from the University of Bonn, Germany, the PhD (Dr. rer. pol.) in 1987 under the European Doctoral Program for Quantitative Economics from the University of Bonn, Germany, the Catholique University of Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium, and the London School of Economics, Great Britain, and the Habilitation in 1996, from the University of Konstanz, Germany. Since 1996 he is professor of Economics at the University of Siegen.
In Bonn he was associated with the long-term research programme Information and coordination of economic activities (SFB 303 Information und die Koordination wirtschaftlicher Aktivitäten), and in Konstanz he was member of the long-term research programme Internationalization of the Economy (SFB 178 Internationalisierung der Wirtschaft) both funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.
He is member of the European Economic Association and the Econometric Society. He served as a member of the programme committee for the European Meeting of the Econometric Society in 1994 and 1996.
His research activities cover several areas: Gereral Equilibrium Theory, Price Theory, Environmental Economics, International Trade, and Economic Growth.
