Ceremonial opening of the Wednesday Academy
The Wednesday Academy's summer semester will be officially opened on April 22.
To mark the occasion, Prof. Dr. Noyan Dinçkal (University of Siegen) will be a guest at the Wednesday Academy. His lecture will shed light on how past interpretations of the body, healing and care also shape current concepts. This also includes earlier ideas of what medicine and illness could be like in the future.
Selected examples will be used to show that ideas of medical progress are always based on historical experience. The lecture thus opens up a reflective view of developments, breaks and continuities in the interpretations of illness and healing.
His lecture is entitled "The future of yesterday: Historical Approaches to Health, Illness & Medicine".
