20 years of Master Urban Design NRW

The Master's degree course in Urban Design NRW was launched 20 years ago - to this day a special example of cross-university cooperation between Bochum University of Applied Sciences, Detmold and Cologne Technical Universities, Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and the University of Siegen.

The symposium is dedicated to the current challenges and future prospects of urban development, urban planning and their communication in teaching, research and practice.

📍 Osthof Hallen Kalk, Dillenburger Str. 63-67, 51105 Cologne
📅 July 2-3, 2026

The first day of the event will open with the session "Quo Vadis Urban Design - Linking Practice, Teaching and Research" and contributions from Johanna Debik (Montag Stiftung Urbane Räume), Robin Höning (endboss), Verena Schmidt (Teleinternetcafe) and Laura Veronese (Studio Futura). The event will conclude with the keynote "The City Is No Longer Enough" by Kaye Geipel and a joint anniversary evening in the Osthof.

20 Jahre Städtebau Master NRW

On the second day, the focus will be on inter- and transdisciplinarity in urban planning teaching - with perspectives from students, graduates and contributions from Maren Harnack (FAUS Frankfurt) and Stefan Hartlock (Hartlock Städtebau).

We also cordially invite you to a get-together.

The detailed program and the registration link for the event can be found in the attachment to this e-mail. We would like to ask you to register in advance and look forward to welcoming you in Cologne.
