Steel composite construction

Master's program in Civil Engineering

  • Bachelor's degree program in Civil Engineering and Bachelor's degree program in Dual Civil Engineering
  • Winter semester
  • Compulsory module in specialization in structural engineering and building construction
  • 4 SWS
  • 6 credit points

  • The student can design and safely dimension composite steel structures in building and bridge construction.

  • Design and construction of steel composite beams (single and multi-span) for building construction, including Verification in the ultimate limit state (elastic and plastic moment resistance, shear force, M-V interaction, time-dependent behavior (creep, shrinkage)) Verification in the serviceability limit state, cracking
  • Design and construction of composite steel columns
  • Design and construction of composite floors

  • Written exam, 180 minutes or oral

Formal:

  • Prerequisite for participation in the examination is passing the coursework in this module.

Content:

The following knowledge should be available:

  • Knowledge of the teaching content from the basic subjects of steel construction in the Bachelor's degree program. This knowledge is taught, for example, in the Bachelor's degree program in Civil Engineering or Dual Studies in Civil Engineering at the University of Siegen as part of the following modules:
    • 4BAUBA304 "Steel Construction I"
    • 4BAUBA305 "Steel Construction II"
