Language Center of the University of Siegen

The Language Center of the University of Siegen has the task of teaching languages, specialist languages and key communicative skills. The courses are available free of charge to all students and employees of the University of Siegen.

The Language Center also offers language tandems, international film evenings and a language café.

The Language Center's language courses are open to all members of the University of Siegen free of charge. Courses from A1 to C1 are offered, the course program can be viewed in unisono.

The Language Center offers courses on specific aspects of communication that students from all Schools can take and add as an additional qualification, as an elective or as part of a certificate.

It is important to evaluate your language skills for applications and stays abroad as well as for participation in the appropriate course level. The Language Centre offers internationally recognized test procedures as well as standardized and valid placement tests.

Consulting services

The Language Center offers individual consultations on course selection, language level and learning strategies. In addition, we offer writing advice in German as a foreign language (DaF), English and Spanish to help you plan, structure and write your academic texts.

Self-learning opportunities

In the SESAM (Self-Study Center), the Language Center provides materials and digital tools for independent learning. In addition, offers such as a language café, tandem program, film evenings and other activities are offered to promote language practice.

NEW: Staff Course Cycle at the Language Center

Course concept:

Face-to face, but with the opportunity to join online
Taught at off-peak-hours (late afternoon and early morning)
2 lessons (90 min. each) per week
We'll start at A1.1/A1.2 level and aim to complete the A1 level by mid July
Once the A1 level is completed, we'll continue immediately with A2.1 (August-October)
For those who successfully complete the A2.1 level, we'll continue with A2.2 (November-January)
In the last stage, we will endeavor to complete the B1.1 level (February-April)

About us

The Advisory Board of the Language Center includes the Deans of Studies of the Schools or another member of the Dean's Office, a representative of the International Office, one representative each from the student group, the academic staff group and the technical and administrative staff group with voting rights.
