Participation requirements
To participate in the TeachersPLUS Siegen qualification program (program round 2026/27 starting in October 2026) , you must meet the following requirements:
- You are a refugee or have come to Germany from a non-European country for other reasons1).
- You have a university or college degree that qualifies you to work as a teacher in your country of origin in at least one of the following subjects2) Biology, chemistry, electrical engineering, English, primary school teaching, home economics, computer science, art, mechanical engineering, mathematics, music, physics, special education, sport, technology, computer engineering
- You have worked as a teacher at a school in your country of origin for at least two years.
- You have a good knowledge of German(at least level B1)
- You have good prospects of remaining in Germany with a residence permit for at least the duration of the qualification.
- You have the ability to commit to the program full-time for one year and to reach the University of Siegen on a daily basis.
- You have the possibility and willingness to travel longer distances to the internship school or the University of Siegen if necessary.
1) The main target group of the program are refugee teachers. However, a smaller number of people who have come to Germany from a non-European country without a refugee background can be accepted.
2) The number of participants accepted per teaching subject is determined in consultation with the Arnsberg district government based on the current career opportunities, among other things. The number may vary from year to year. It is also possible that it will not be possible to accept participants for all of the specified subjects in every program cycle.
