Christmas holidays 2025
The University of Siegen is providing information about the opening hours around the Christmas holidays in 2025. The university would like to provide all students and employees with planning security at an early stage with a uniform regulation. This will also help to save energy and thus improve the ecological footprint.
The university buildings will remain closed from December 20, 2025 to January 4, 2026 .
All employees are asked to give priority to taking vacation or reducing overtime during this period. If this is not possible (e.g. urgently required activities or vacation already fully used up or no overtime available), employees should work from home where the activities are suitable. The following applies to working on site: access to the buildings is possible with a chip key. In the event of an emergency while working on site, the University refers to the internal emergency number 2111.
The university asks all employees to implement three measures on their last working day before Christmas:
- Turn your heating thermostat to frost protection (snowflake symbol, alternatively "1").
- Make sure that doors and windows are closed.
- Switch off the computer including the screen and other consumers.
The following applies to the Studierendenwerk Siegen:
- All gastronomic facilities of the Studierendenwerk (canteens, bistro, food court) as well as the Flexi are closed from December 22, 2025 to January 6, 2026. Catering for the Leos will also not take place during this time. From January 7, 2026, the Studierendenwerk will resume catering and support.
The following applies to the University Library locations
- On December 22 and December 23, 2025, the libraries on Campus AR and Campus US will be open, but on December 23 only until 4 p.m. - the branch libraries ENC, H and PB will be closed on these two days. All locations will then be closed from December 24 to January 4, 2026 . From January 5, 2026, all locations will be open again at the usual times.
