Last week, from August 17 to August 21, 2026, theEuropean Conference on Educational Research (ECER) took place in Tampere, Finland. Organized by the EERA, the conference offered a wide range of opportunities for professional exchange and networking, as well as numerous new ideas and insights to stimulate further reflection.
Together with our colleagues from the University of Erlangen, we were able to present current findings from the governance team of the Startchancen Program’s accompanying research in a paper and during a symposium, and discuss them with international colleagues.
In addition, I had the opportunity to present preliminary findings from my dissertation project. The focus was on a comparative policy analysis of legal and administrative frameworks in Hamburg and Calgary and the question of how differences among students are institutionally constructed and addressed within these frameworks.
Thank you very much for the exciting discussions, feedback, and new perspectives we were able to take back with us from Tampere!
