International teaching and learning spaces at the Schools

Humanities students can also experience an international lecture hall atmosphere at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities!

In 2025, teaching at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities was dominated by international collaborations.

In German Studies, Prof. Multhammer conducted a virtual teaching cooperation with the partner university Bologna and Dr. Eva Willis led a binational course with our partner university Georgia State in the USA:

Lecturers from our partner universities CUT (South Africa) and Concepción (Chile) visited the Schools in Siegen, strengthening international teaching. An extended range of courses taught in English also facilitated exchanges with international students. International guests from the USA also brought a piece of internationalization directly into the Siegen classrooms.

In addition, the Schools will be offering an even greater number of English-language courses outside of English studies in the coming semester, e.g. in social sciences and media studies. The Schools would be delighted if many students of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities would also take advantage of these offers outside of English studies as an opportunity for internationalization at SIegen. Attending courses taught in English is uncomplicated and offers many advantages.

• English language skills: Nobody expects you to speak perfect English, whether you attend a guest lecture, take part in a virtual teaching collaboration or simply attend your course in English (unless you are an English Studies student)
• Added value: It's not about simply hearing the "same thing" in English as usual. Every event is designed to promote intercultural encounters.
• Step out of your comfort zone: learn, for example, what it is like to prepare a presentation from another country and take this with you into your future career.
• Stay in Siegen and be international: international teaching formats in Siegen are a good opportunity to continue your international education even without a stay abroad.
• Last but not least: have fun trying out something new.
• Attendance: Attending the courses is very straightforward and can offer many advantages (e.g.)
