Panel talk: The country needs new educational spaces
Generation of upheaval - designing between pandemic, vacancy and climate change
Under the title "The country needs new educational spaces. Generation of upheaval - Designing between pandemic, vacancy and climate change", the Department of Architecture at the University of Siegen invites you to a public talk round on Friday, February 27, at 5:00 pm in the former printing house of the Siegener Zeitung, Häutebachweg 17, 570272 Siegen. The event marks the conclusion of the presentations of the Bachelor's and Master's theses and addresses central questions that are currently shaping architectural education and practice: How are social crises, ecological demands and structural upheavals changing design - and what educational spaces are needed for this?
In a one-hour panel discussion, representatives from research, teaching and politics will discuss architecture as a transformative discipline together with students.
Participants in the discussion
- Jochen Ritter, MdL, spokesperson for the CDU parliamentary group in the Building, Housing and Digitalization Committee for the area of building and housing
- Ilka Mecklenbrauck, Professor of Urban Planning and Urban Design at Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Applied Sciences
- Annika Gruhn, Spokesperson for the Interdisciplinary Center for Educational Spaces (IZBR) and the OASE Learning Workshop at the University of Siegen
- Astrid Wuttke, Professor of Transformation and Design at the Department of Architecture
- Aaron Stierl, student, Master's program in Architecture
Moderation: Thorsten Erl, Professor of Urban Design at the Department of Architecture
The event sees itself as a forum for dialog between teaching, research and social responsibility and is intended to make visible how current theses address central future issues of transformation, sustainability and educational spaces.
