Theology Meets AI - Presentation at the 2026 Open University Day
Once again this year, the departments of Protestant and Catholic Theology presented themselves at the University Open House on the square at the Lower Castle. The theme of the joint presentation was “Theology Meets AI.” The two robots, “Celeste” and “Navel,” which, thanks to AI-powered programming, have been trained not only to present Christian-religious content but also to assist with theological and religious learning.
This small exhibition attracted many visitors who wanted to learn more about the topic. It addressed fundamental questions, such as the possibilities and limitations of using AI in religious contexts.
In addition to the many discussions, prospective students learned about the range of degree programs offered by the two seminaries and also gained a deep understanding of the academic disciplines and their structure. The academic representatives—Prof. Dr. Veronika Albrecht-Birkner, Dr. Anna Krager-Kroll, Dr. Steffi Fabricius, and Marius Stachowski, as well as Ralph van Doorn, head of the Evangelical Student Community (ESG), provided insights into research and teaching practices in the two theology departments in Siegen.
