Gemeinschaft Hände

This profile area examines social inequalities and conditions for participation, integration and social justice - with a particular focus on the mechanisms that disadvantage certain social groups. The focus is on migration and institution-related issues as well as the analysis of educational inequalities. Different levels are considered - from individual educational biographies to political control mechanisms and global migration movements.

Quantitative and qualitative approaches are combined with participatory methods that incorporate the perspectives of "experts by experience" and thus directly integrate the realities of life of affected groups. The interdisciplinary collaboration between educational research, social work, sociology and political science aims to develop innovative strategies and concepts that contribute to the promotion of participation and social justice and help shape an inclusive, sustainable society.
