Research profile
The University of Siegen is developing its research profile in line with major societal challenges and promotes excellent, internationally visible research. It strengthens both basic and application-oriented research in a broad range of subjects and focuses on interdisciplinary cooperation. Special emphasis is placed on the strategic funding of coordinated third-party funded projects, for example by the DFG and the EU. A central role is played by the enabling culture, which creates scope for explorative research and provides incentives to tackle global challenges. In addition, the university specifically supports profile and potential areas in order to react flexibly to scientific and social developments and strengthen its international competitiveness.
