FAQ, Deadlines, Free Attempts
You can register for exams in unisono from June 8, 2026, through July 31, 2026.
To be eligible to take the Graded Assessment for a module, you must have successfully completed the Coursework for that module, if such Coursework is required.
Withdrawal is possible through unisono up to one week before the exam date.
To withdraw from exams due to illness, a medical certificate must be submitted to the Exam Office within three days of the respective exam date. The certificate may be submitted electronically via email.
If a student fails the exam on the first attempt or withdraws due to illness, they have the option to retake the exam. Registration for the second exam date must also be completed through unisono.
There is no entitlement to retake a failed exam or coursework in its original form.
In a bachelor’s program, students may request that up to three Graded Assessments that they have failed be counted as “free attempts.”
In the master’s program, students may request that a maximum of two failed Graded Assessments be counted as “free attempts.”
Exempt attempts do not apply to: Bachelor’s/Master’s theses, oral exams, and colloquia.
The request for an “exemption attempt” must be submitted to the Examinations Office within one month of the announcement of the exam results.
The request may be submitted informally via email to pruefungsamt@physik.uni-siegen.de.
If the student achieves a better grade on the retake exam than on the previous attempt, the previous attempt is considered not to have been taken and is replaced by the result of the retake exam.
If the same or a lower grade is achieved in the retake exam, the grade from the previous attempt remains valid.
