Proof of General Knowledge in Mathematics
On this page, applicants who do not have a general university entrance qualification can find information about the exam to demonstrate general knowledge in mathematics.
Type, Scope, and Content of the Exam
The mathematics exam consists of a 2-hour written test. The purpose of the exam is to demonstrate
- a solid command of elementary arithmetic operations such as fractions and exponents,
- the ability to solve linear and quadratic equations as well as simple systems of linear equations,
- knowledge of the rules of differential calculus and their application,

and knowledge of the properties of important functions such as polynomials, the exponential function, and trigonometric functions.
In-Person Preparation Course
To help students prepare for the exam, the Department of Mathematics offers a preparatory course.
The location and time will be announced at a later date.
Online Course, Practice Exams, and Reading List
In addition to the preparatory course, an asynchronous online course is offered on a learning platform. In the course area, you will find online tests, a course handout, recommended reading, and useful links to various topics.
To participate in this course, you must register once using this form. Within a few days, you will receive your login credentials for the learning platform via email, along with further instructions.
You can register and participate even before submitting your application materials or receiving admission from the Studierendenwerk.
Exam Date
July 31, 2026, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., Room ENC-D 114.
The room is located on the Emmy-Noether Campus, Walter-Flex-Str. 3.
