Course Reserves
Course Reserves are digital compilations of literature and media that are created for the current semester as part of a course. They include printed and electronic materials and are accessible for the duration of a semester.
The aim is to provide students with all relevant content for the course in one place.
Information for students
All available Course Reserves can be found in the Katalog Plus in the menu item Courses.
Materials digitized for the course (journal articles, book chapters) are only accessible to course participants in the Moodle learning management system. You will receive the respective password from your lecturer.
The print media can be found on a specially marked shelf in the respective library.
Please note: physical books from Course Reserve cannot be borrowed and can generally only be used in the library.
Information for lecturers
You can set up your Course Reserve for the respective course via the link "Course Reserve requirements". To be able to use this service, please register once with your ZIMT ID. You will also need a personal library card for university staff for authentication. Please use the following form to submit general information about the Course Reserve as well as details of the literature you require.
You are welcome to place media that are in our library collection in the Course Reserve or have them digitized in accordance with copyright law.
If you need something that is not in our collection, we will order the required literature as far as possible.
Course Reserves are generally dissolved at the end of the respective semester.
The collection is created in the form of a course with your name and the title of the course. In order to be able to connect the Course Reserve with your Moodle main course, we need the correct course name and Moodle identification number. The Moodle-ID can be found in the URL of your Moodle course (the last numbers). The main course must be provided with an access key in order to integrate the Course Reserve. Alternatively, the course reserve is managed as a separate, password-protected Moodle course. You will pass on the access data to your students.

In compliance with the applicable copyright law (UrhWissG, § 60)
- 15% of a book
- Individual articles from specialist journals as well as individual illustrations or similar small works
- Out-of-print works in their entirety (works published before 1 January 1966 in books, specialist journals, newspapers or in other writings which belong to the library's stock and which are out of print in bookshops),
- Up to 15% of works intended for educational use in schools (textbooks)
be provided in electronic form in a reserve collection.
Articles from daily newspapers and magazines without an explicit academic focus (so-called "kiosk magazines") may not be digitized and offered via learning platforms.
The complete digitization of printed textbooks or reference books is not possible.
