Housing

Housing is meant for customers who, for technical or organizational reasons, require maximal flexibility in hardware and software management without having to forego the advantages of the fast and reliable network connection in the university's data center. Air conditioning, redundant power supply and the option of server data backup on the ZIMT systems are also covered.

• The maintenance costs for the hardware housed are paid by the owner. Operating costs are not charged.
• The owners are the operators of the system. Access to the system is regulated as part of their user concept.
• The ZIMT ensures that the system is connected and accessible. All other operating expenses are the responsibility of the owners.

Requirements for servers:

• 19" rack installation with ventilation from front to back,
• Out-of-band management via 1Gbit IP/Ethernet via a dedicated connection (HP ILO, Dell iDRAC, etc.),
• even number of network interfaces (min. 2), 2 x 10Gbit fiber optic multi-mode, each with the option of coupling an LACP port channel,
• redundant power supply with at least two C13/C14 or C19/C20 power supply units.

Application:

Before procuring the server, please contact the head of the infrastructure department at erna.enders@uni-siegen.de. Please provide the following details about the desired server:

• Name of the server,
• Manufacturer + type,
• Number of height units of the device,
• Date of procurement,
• serial number and service date, if applicable,
• the purpose of the server.
