We currently offer language courses at the following levels (according to the CEFR):

Duration
While you are enrolled in our German courses, you will be registered as a student for a maximum of 3 semesters.
How do I apply for the preparatory language course?
Here you'll find all the important information:
Applications are submitted through the unisono online portal: https://unisono.uni-siegen.de
Please select “Other Degree” as your degree, and “German Course” will appear as your field of study.
Application periods:
- Summer semester: September 1 – November 15 for the following semester
- Winter semester: March 1 – May 15 for the following semester
- School and college transcripts
- University entrance exam certificate (if required in your home country)
- All certificates must be submitted in their original language and as a translation into German or English by a certified translator!
- Transcript of Records for your previous studies (if you have already studied)
- Language certificates (at least an A2 certificate) from an accredited institution
- Copy of your passport
- TestAS certificate (if applicable)
- If transferring from another university in Germany: Certificate of good standing and certificate of withdrawal from your previous university
- Students with high school and/or university transcripts from India, China, and Vietnam require an APS certificate.
The following do not need to take an additional language exam to study at the University of Siegen:
- Holders of the following certificates:
- German Language Test for University Admission (DSH2)
- TestDaF (4-4-4-4)
- Telc C1 University
- Goethe Certificate C2
- ÖSD C2
- The German Language Diploma Level II (DSD II)
- Applicants with a German high school diploma from a German school abroad
- Applicants with a Mixed-Language International Baccalaureate (GIB)
- Applicants with an International Baccalaureate (IB) that includes German in the diploma
You can also take the DSH exam at the University of Siegen as:
- Prospective student not enrolled in a language course
- A student at another university
Requirements:
- B2 certificate from an accredited institution
- Certified copy of a high school diploma or equivalent (in German or English)
Cost: 200€
Registration:
- Exam in July/August: Registration by the end of June
- Exam in February/March: Registration by the end of January

As a refugee, how do I apply for the language course?
Here's all the information you need:
Application:

- Application for Admission: Application for Admission
- Certificate of German language proficiency (at least A2) or exam certificate (TestDaF, DSH, or similar)
- Copy of passport, German ID card, or residence permit
- Resume in table format
- College transcripts* (if available, including grade reports and degree certificate) and college entrance exam*
- High school transcripts*
- TestAS certificate or confirmation of registration, if available
* All certificates must be submitted in their original language along with a translation into German or English by a certified translator!
If you cannot provide proof of university entrance eligibility, you may apply using the TestAS(Test for International Students administered by g.a.s.t. e.V.): A minimum score of 100 points in the core and subject modules is required.
