Students about studying psychology
I want to stay here!
Psychology - I've been fascinated by this science for ages. I wanted to understand how people function, how our feelings arise, how we perceive the world around us. What exactly is the human personality? How does our psyche develop over the course of our lives? Why do some people develop a mental disorder and others don't? All these and so many other questions have been with me for a long time and I still probably don't even know half of everything there is to know about psychology!
The Bachelor's degree in Psychology is very wide-ranging. You get a wide range of insights into the psychology of personality, clinical psychology, social psychology and also work and organizational psychology, to name just a few of the many areas I was able to get to know. It was nice to be able to get a taste of a wide variety of fields without having to commit to one area straight away.
For me, the psychology degree course at the University of Siegen is also characterized by two other points in particular: Firstly, the cohorts are pleasantly small with 60 students per year. While in other degree programs you don't even know many of your fellow students even after 3 years of study, I already knew all the students in my cohort after just one month! On the other hand, there are many dedicated professors working in the field of psychology who always have an open ear for us students and come up with great teaching concepts to introduce us to the content of the respective subject. So it certainly never gets boring!
After completing my Bachelor's degree, one thing was clear to me: I wanted to stay here! I decided to do a Master's in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy at the University of Siegen and am looking forward to everything I can learn in the field of clinical psychology and beyond.
