Your future begins in Siegen
Why does one person fall ill and three others don't? How can diseases be prevented and health promoted? How can we use digital technologies to improve prevention and care? What impact does digitalization in our living environments have on health and how can we use digital health technologies to meet needs and requirements? These and similar questions are the subject of digital public health.
The discipline expands the previous population-based perspective of public health and takes into account the continuous change in our living environments due to digitalization. In this sense, digital public health is both an interdisciplinary and application-oriented subject that is dedicated to researching, analysing and solving the health problems of the population as a whole or individual population groups against the backdrop of the potential, challenges and requirements of digitalization.

Career prospects
The Master's degree program in Digital Public Health aims to impart fundamental specialist knowledge in the analytical and methodological field in combination with application and implementation-oriented knowledge. This opens up numerous entry opportunities for graduates in various professional fields such as research institutions, health and care insurance companies, social welfare associations, associations and foundations, public health offices and authorities, hospitals or advice centers as well as in the private sector. Their special expertise at the interface of health, digitalization and society is in great demand in order to shape the processes of digital transformation in our living environments in an evidence-based and needs-based manner.
The Master's degree program deepens the competencies and skills acquired in the Bachelor's degree and allows students to focus on specific areas through the range of compulsory electives. The prerequisite for this is a Bachelor's degree in a degree program with a focus on health sciences. Applicants must prove that they have acquired a certain amount of basic epidemiological and/or statistical knowledge before beginning their studies (at least 12 ECTS credits in total). Of course, the Bachelor's degree program Digital Biomedical and Health Sciences with a second core subject Digital Public Health at the University of Siegen meets these admission requirements.
Examination regulations/study plans/module handbooks/internship regulations
Subject examination regulations (FPOs) define the basic structures of a degree program (e.g. admission requirements and content to be studied). Students are automatically subject to the current version of an FPO when they enrol for their first semester. This means that even if the FPO changes during the course of studies, the original version according to which you enrolled is still valid (provided this FPO does not expire). The respective study plan represents the recommended exemplary course of study in the individual subjects and is part of an FPO. Supplementary regulations and detailed information for each module to be studied can be found in the module handbooks (e.g. requirements for taking a written examination or information on the content of the modules/courses, ...). The internship regulations define the conditions under which the compulsory or optional internships must be completed.
Before the start of the lecture period, we recommend that you at least take a look at the study plan for your degree program so that you know which modules are planned for the start of your studies.
