Organizational structure

University-wide decision-making committee: ZLB Council

The Schools in which teacher training courses are offered form the ZLB Council (ZLBR) to promote and coordinate research, teaching and studies in teacher training in accordance with Section 17 (2) sentence 1 of the Basic Regulations of the University of Siegen.

The ZLBR has the following tasks in particular:

  • Ensuring that the organization of studies and examinations in the teacher training courses is tailored to the needs of the students.
  • Adopting the regulations concerning the teaching profession in the subject examination regulations at the suggestion of the respective Schools.
  • Adoption of interdisciplinary regulations specific to the teaching profession, e.g. practical semester regulations.
  • Development of recommendations to ensure that the content and timing of the courses offered are coordinated between educational sciences, didactics and subject-specific sciences.
  • Regular (at least semi-annual) exchange on quality assurance and development measures in studies and teaching and the structural development of teacher training as well as the definition and adoption of structural quality objectives for teacher training, without prejudice to subject-specific quality assurance, which is the responsibility of the Schools.
  • Opinions on advertisement texts and members of the appointment committees in appointment procedures to fill positions with teacher training in agreement with the Schools concerned.
  • Opinions
    • on teacher training-specific regulations in the framework examination regulations,
    • in the context of (re-)accreditation procedures for (partial) teacher training courses,
    • on the introduction, modification and discontinuation of (partial) teacher training courses,
    • to change institutions, insofar as teacher training is affected,
    • on general university and cross-state issues relating to teacher training.
