Innovative Measurement Technology

The department’s equipment has been expanded to include innovative data loggers. In addition to the existing loggers for water level and temperature, a pressure gauge with a logging function and a multiparameter probe (conductivity, pH, O2) are now in use for continuous data collection. The pressure probe was used in December 2024 as part of a measurement campaign. The measurements yielded a water pressure curve over a 10-day period at the measurement site at the University of Siegen, Paul-Bonatz-Straße, Building B, Municipal Water Management Laboratory. The pressure recording (“daily trend line”) is used, for example, to calibrate a network calculation (in this case: the “Haardter Berg” water distribution network using the STANET software). This small-scale project ties in with the department’s areas of specialization in water supply and is currently linked to a master’s thesis in the winter semester of 2024/2025.
