Business Law—A Core Area of Expertise at the University of Siegen

Our bachelor’s and master’s degree programs inGerman and European Economic Law ( LL.B. and LL.M.) take apractical and modern approachto the interplay between German, European, and international law. Furthermore, interdisciplinarity isa core strength of the University of Siegen and, in particular, of the Business Law program, making it a flagship program of the university. The University of Siegen has themost extensive experience in the field of business law in all of Germany. We have been offering this program since the winter semester of 1999/2000, but we continually adapt it to current developments in law, business, and society.

We are committedto offering studentsthe best possible learning environment, in addition to a comprehensive curriculum withinnovative teaching concepts. For this reason, we limit class sizes to a maximum of 120 students for the bachelor’s program and 40 students for the master’s program. This ensures direct access to professors and staff, individualized support, and the opportunity to quickly makeconnections within the student body. The class size encourages students to develop friendships, find study groups, andorganize theirstudies effectively. Nevertheless, there is still plenty of flexibility for extracurricular activities such as internships, gaining initial professional experience, and, of course, leisure time.

With a population of just over 100,000 and approximately 15,000 students, Siegen is one of Germany’s pleasant, medium-sized university towns, characterized byshort distances. There are numerous places to go out right around the castle campus, with something to suit every taste. After all, Siegen is the center of a region home to more than 500,000 people and numerous globally oriented companies (“hidden champions”).

The cost of living, particularlyrent, islow compared to other cities. The city has direct train connections to Cologne/Aachen, Giessen/Frankfurt am Main, and Hagen/Essen. With the introduction of the Deutschland-Ticket for all students, other cities areeasily accessible at no cost, regardless of the reason for the trip.
